On February 21, the conference "Southern Ukraine as a zone of contacts and conflicts on the border of the sea and the steppe from ancient times to the present" was held in the library of Ushynsky University.

The conference was attended by teachers of the Department of History of Ukraine of the State Institution "South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky", teachers of the Department of History of Ukraine and special historical disciplines of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University, representatives of the Institute of Naval Forces of the National University " Odssa Maritime Academy" and representatives of the Professional College of Maritime Transport of the National University "Odesa Maritime Academy".

The organizer of the event was Alla Hryhorivna Bochevar, executive director of the Charitable Fund for the Promotion and Development of the Naval Forces of Ukraine.


Within the framework of the event, a series of reports by scientists from the above-mentioned institutions were held, with topics that made it possible to highlight the problems of contacts and conflicts in the North-Western Black Sea region from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century.

The main line that passed through a series of reports was the issue of the Gulf of Odesa in the context of a number of naval conflicts of the specified period.
