Recent years have witnessed the rapid development of technology and the increasing transition to cashless and online payments. However, along with this, the threat of fraud in the online environment is also growing. More than half of the frauds in the world are related to social engineering, when people themselves transfer money to fraudsters or reveal their personal or financial data to them.
In order to make Ukrainian citizens aware of potential threats in the online environment when making payments, especially during quarantine and war, an information campaign #ScamGoodbye was created, initiated by the National Bank of Ukraine and the Cyber Police Department of Ukraine. This project brought together more than 70 partners, including banks, payment systems, mobile operators, associations, store chains, marketplaces, gas stations, public organizations, utility companies and government institutions. With joint efforts, we intend to spread the basic rules of payment security among the largest possible audience.
