On October 11, 2024, an important meeting of representatives of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council, scientists of Ushynsky University, and heads of Odesa lyceums #9, 23, 81, 84, 117 and gymnasium #120 took place in the "CreateED" educational space. These institutions became participants in the all-Ukrainian innovative educational project on the topic "Robotic design system in computer science lessons in basic school".
The author of the initiative, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Nataliya Chernenko, presented the roadmap for the implementation of the first stage of the project. Together with her spoke: Professor Tetyana Mazurok, the head of the project, Doctor of Technical Sciences; Associate Professor Vyacheslav Korablyov, senior teacher, and Viktor Korablyov, a postgraduate student. They reviewed in detail the plans and tasks facing the project participants.
A meaningful discussion also took place at the meeting, during which Iryna Stolbova, the deputy director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council, expressed her support for the project, emphasizing the importance of forming robotics design skills among elementary school students. She emphasized the importance of integrating modern technologies into the educational process for the development of critical thinking and creative abilities of schoolchildren.
Professor Tetyana Mazurok, the head of the project, Doctor of Technical Sciences, emphasized the timeliness and importance of the development of methodological support for robotics design for teachers of informatics in secondary schools. She emphasized that high-quality training of teachers is a key factor in the successful implementation of the project.
The Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Systems of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, Informatics and Management of South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky plays a key role in the project. It will coordinate activities and provide ongoing consulting support to computer science teachers regarding the implementation of robotics in the classroom. In addition, the laboratory will be responsible for the development and adaptation of methodological materials, ensuring a high level of training and professional development of teachers.
Thus, the first step towards the official launch of an innovative educational project at the all-Ukrainian level has been successfully completed. This project opens up new opportunities for elementary school students, contributing to their professional and personal development.
