As part of the Integrity Week at Ushynsky University, which runs from March 17 to 21, 2025, a webinar “Implementation of an Academic Integrity Policy for Higher Education Students” was held on March 19. The event was organized for students of the Department of Political Science and Law of the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels of higher education, studying in specialty “Political Science”.
The organizers of the event were Inna PRONOZA (guarantor of the educational program “Political Science. Ukrainian and European Political Studies” of the second (Master’s) level of higher education) and Svitlana NAUMKINA (Head of the Department of Political Science and Law, guarantor of the educational program “Political Science” of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education), and the invited speaker was MAKSYM Oksana, Director of the Ushynsky Library.
Pronoza I. I. moderated the event, emphasizing the importance of academic integrity as the foundation of quality education, the formation of critical thinking and responsibility in scientific activity.
Maksym O. A., director of the library, presented information to the webinar participants about the basic principles of academic integrity, its importance in scientific and educational activities, as well as key types of violations: plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication and falsification of data, academic fraud and improper assistance in completing assignments.
Particular attention was paid to the practical aspects of checking academic papers. Maksym Oksana familiarized students in detail with similarity reports when checking papers, explained how to analyze the results of a plagiarism check, and talked about the new option for assessing the likelihood of using AI (artificial intelligence) when writing texts.
The event was held in the format of an interactive discussion, where students had the opportunity to ask questions, discuss real cases and receive professional recommendations.
The webinar was an important step in spreading the culture of academic integrity and contributed to the formation of a responsible attitude towards the educational process among students.
