Modern challenges require strengthening civic education and the development of democratic competencies among students, especially in the context of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Ushynsky University supports the professional development of teachers and creates opportunities for academic mobility, contributing to the integration of modern approaches to education and strengthening democratic values. Thus, a protocol on cooperation with IFES (Representative Office of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems in Ukraine) was signed. Scientific and pedagogical workers Prof. Petinova O. B. and Assoc. Prof. Pronoza I. I. joined this initiative and began the first stage of academic mobility within the framework of the international project under the program “Democracy: from Theory to Practice” and took part in a training, the purpose of which is to familiarize themselves with modern interactive teaching methods. Training organizers: International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department of International Affairs of Canada and British aid from the Government of the United Kingdom (UK aid). Civic education is the foundation for building inclusive, resilient and sustainable democracy. Using the global methodology “Strengthening Engagement through Education for Democracy” (SEED), IFES offers a modern and interactive approach to building civic competences. Sustainable development of civic education IFES ensures the sustainability of its civic education initiatives in Ukraine by building partnerships. The training took place in Lviv and brought together trainers and more than 20 participants from various higher education institutions in Ukraine – Odesa, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kherson, Sumy, Zaporizhia and other cities.
