On April 24, 2025, the second-year postgraduate students of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of Ushynsky University reported on the results of the scientific and pedagogical practice provided for by the educational component of the program for the training of Doctors of Philosophy in specialty 105 "Applied Physics and Nanomaterials".
Scientific and pedagogical practice according to the curriculum lasted three weeks (3 ECTS credits) and was aimed at deeply immersing graduate students in the realities of the professional activity of a teacher at a higher education institution. During the practice, graduate students worked according to individual plans, studied the regulatory and methodological framework, curricula, methodological materials and documentation regulating the activities of a teacher in the field of natural science education.
Each postgraduate student conducted 3 training sessions within the disciplines corresponding to the topic of his dissertation research. The lectures and practical sessions were open for discussion and evaluation by the teachers of the department. During the classes, postgraduate students used modern interactive teaching methods, multimedia presentations and elements of the STEM approach, adapting the content of the material to the modern demands of engineering and research education.
As part of organizational and educational activities, postgraduate students participated in organizing round tables, popular science events, discussions of current problems of modern science, and also initiated the participation of students in research work. Special attention was paid to the development of critical thinking and the formation of an engineering approach in students. For postgraduate students Sivak I. S. and Tuzhykov A. V., their participation in the seminar "Researcher's Toolbox" with the receipt of the corresponding certificate was credited as a speech at the scientific seminar of the graduating department.
The final stage of the practice was a reporting conference, during which postgraduate students presented the results of their pedagogical activities, shared experience, difficulties and developments that they received during their practice at a higher education institution.
