Students of the Department of Musical Art and Choreography have been performing their choreographic productions for many years, combining various compositions and dance ensemble numbers with a common idea. Sometimes it is presented in the genre of a film: “House”, “Plastic Metamorphoses”; sometimes it is a real fairy tale: “A Christmas Tale”, “Alice in Wonderland”, sometimes it is a theatrical performance: “Myths and Legends of Ancient Ukraine”, “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”, “Forest Song”. And so our students and their creative artistic director found an extraordinary idea for their new project, which also required the appropriate conditions of the technical art space. The new dance and theater performance is called “Idea”. Olha Mikulinska, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, embodied a real philosophical thought in a dance work of art. Each of the master’s students had their own idea and materialized it in the art of dance. Here is how Olha Mikulinska explains this idea: “Idea…”. This is a dance performance in which the choreographers believe that art can be a bridge between philosophy and life. Our production “Idea…” is an artistic study of how ideas are born, live and die in the conditions of the modern world. This is not just a dance — it is a mirror in which the viewer will see their own fears, hopes and victories. If you have given up on your idea, then you should come to us…”.
We were able to turn our “Idea” into reality also thanks to the hall of the Vira Kholodna film studio. The audience found themselves in the virtual atmosphere of the universe in which ideas are born…. . Everything we saw was incredibly moving, complex, philosophical, but it gave us faith that good ideas will always win and be realized.
We thank our talented choreographers and musicians who participated in the performance, we thank our graduates and the audience who came and supported our students. We thank the esteemed Olha Mikulinska, Associate Professor of the Department of Musical Art and Choreography.
Therefore, the creation of the Liberal Arts Dance Theater is indeed timely and justified for the search for new ideas and their theatrical plastic embodiment.
