On June 12, future psychologists of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education of Ushynsky University, together with the senior psychologist of the psychological support department of the Main Department of the Odesa Region Police Department, candidate of psychological sciences Yatsishyna Anastasia, visited: "Odesa City Specialized Children's Home No. 1".
During the visit, the students got acquainted with the activities of the institution, which takes care of the youngest and most vulnerable children deprived of parental care. The participants had the opportunity to observe the work of educators and specialists, as well as join the elements of psychological support for children - through game interaction, soft physical contact, non-verbal forms of communication.
A separate important part of the visit was an acquaintance with the palliative department, where children with severe developmental disorders and conditions requiring constant care are located. Thanks to a short lecture from the institution's practicing psychologist, the students received important knowledge about the features of psychological support for such children, the difficulties of emotional contact, the specifics of working with families, as well as the ethical aspects of assistance in difficult life circumstances.
This experience became an important stage in the professional development of future psychologists: it teaches emotional sensitivity, recognizing the needs of the child, establishing safe trusting relationships, and developing empathy, which are the key skills for future specialists in the field of psychological assistance.
