Open Day at the Odesa Museum of History and Local Lore

On February 20, 2026, on the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, first-year students of the Faculty of History and Philology visited an open day at the Odessa Historical and Local Lore Museum, which was held in the Armory Hall.

The event was organized at the initiative of Professor of the Department of History of Ukraine Honcharuk Taras Hryhorovych. First-year students of education - historians had the opportunity to join a meaningful excursion, which was conducted by the head of the museum Yuriy Oleksandrovych Slyusar, a well-known historian, researcher and museologist.

During the excursion, future historians got acquainted with the unique exhibits of the Armory Hall, learned about their historical value and place in Ukrainian and world history. The event became not only informative, but also deeply educational - especially symbolic in the context of honoring the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, who gave their lives for the freedom and dignity of Ukraine.

Educational work with students is one of the priority areas of the Department of History of Ukraine. The formation of national consciousness, patriotism and respect for historical memory is an integral part of the training of future historians. That is why such events outside the classroom are an important part of the educational process: they help students not just study history from textbooks, but feel its living connection with the present.

We sincerely thank the management of the Odesa Museum of History and Local Lore for the opportunity to involve student youth in living history and an extremely informative and interesting lecture.
