As part of the celebration of International Mathematics Day on March 16, 2026, a scientific and methodological workshop was organized on the basis of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, Informatics and Management by the Department of Higher Mathematics and Statistics and the Department of Mathematics and Methods of Its Teaching, dedicated to the current issues of the transformation of mathematical education in the context of digitalization. The key topic of the event was the consideration of the methodology for designing mathematical cases using artificial intelligence as a factor in the development of cognitive flexibility of students in grades 5-9. The event presented the results of a joint study by Associate Professor Olha Papach and a 4th-year student of MI41 group Yuriy Dzyuba and substantiated the role of mathematics as a universal tool for deautomatization of thinking. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of developing students' ability to strategically choose methods for solving problems in situations of methodological uncertainty.
The discussion part of the workshop demonstrated the interest of the professional community in using AI as an intellectual partner for generating variable educational scenarios. The participants noted that the integration of digital tools helps overcome the cognitive rigidity not only of students, but also of teachers themselves, stimulating them to professional maneuverability.
At the end of the event, the organizers expressed sincere gratitude to all participants for the constructive dialogue and readiness for innovative transformations.
Special thanks were addressed to the speakers, whose research and analytical work became the theoretical basis for the formation of new strategic vectors for the development of mathematics education.
