On April 1, 2026, the representatives of the state institution "South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky" joined the third, practically oriented day of the founding meeting of the international project BSB01214-MicroDanger. Unlike the previous days dedicated to the official opening and organizational and management issues, this day focused on practical training in the selection and analysis of samples related to the study of microplastic pollution.
In the first half of the day, the participants visited Fatsa Halk Beach, where field training on the organization of sampling took place. The program included training in planning a field study, sample selection, their proper transportation, as well as practical training of relevant procedures by all team members. This stage was particularly important for unifying the partners' approaches to field research and ensuring the comparability of future results.
After the lunch break, the work continued in the laboratory, where the participants were trained in the analysis of the collected samples. The practical block included familiarization with the equipment, tools and consumables necessary for the research, as well as the features of working with sand and water samples. The participants had the opportunity not only to familiarize themselves with the methodology, but also to see in practice how the analysis of the obtained results is carried out.
For Ushynsky University, the participation in the third day of the meeting was especially valuable, as it allowed them to participate in the practical mastering of unified research procedures that will be used in the future within the framework of the international partnership. This format of work contributes not only to the exchange of experience between institutions from different countries, but also to the formation of a common methodological base for high-quality research into the problem of microplastics in the Black Sea.
The third working day ended with a final discussion, during which the participants summarized the results of the practical training and outlined further steps in the implementation of the BSB01214-MicroDanger project. The practical component of the meeting became an important stage in the transition from the organizational start of the project to direct research work.
