A round table "Assignment of professional qualifications to higher education students majoring in Secondary Education (Mathematics)"

On March 31, 2026, a roundtable meeting was held online at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, dedicated to the current issues of granting professional qualifications to higher education applicants in the specialty of Secondary Education (Mathematics).

The professional discussion was attended by guarantors of educational programs and scientific and pedagogical workers from leading educational centers of Ukraine: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Mykhailo Drahomanov Ukrainian State University, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Zaporizhia National University, South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D.Ushynsky. Our university was represented at the event by: Oleksandra Ordanovska, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, Informatics and Management, Guarantor of the Secondary Education Program “Secondary Education (Physics. Mathematics)” (Bachelor’s level) and Olha Yakovleva, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Higher Mathematics and Statistics, Guarantor of the Secondary Education Program “Secondary Education (Mathematics)” (Master’s level). The view from the side of state institutions and the management of HEIs was presented by Tetyana Fedirchyk, Head of the Department of the State Nuclear Safety and Health Administration in Chernivtsi Region Oksana Paliychuk and Vice-Rector of the Chernivtsi National University.

During the meeting, the participants analyzed the issues of adapting the educational process to the requirements of the Laws of Ukraine “On Education” and “On Higher Education”, as well as the practical implementation of the norms of the Professional Standard “Teacher of a General Secondary Education Institution”. Experts emphasized that one of the key challenges today is the creation of transparent and effective tools for objective verification of graduates' professional competence.

According to the results of the round table, the participants emphasized the need to form a unified strategy between universities and agreed to deepen inter-university cooperation and actively exchange the best methodological developments. Such an approach will allow to improve the quality of mathematics teacher training and ensure their full compliance with modern educational challenges.
