An international educational and artistic project "ARS SONORA: INTERNATIONAL GUITAR HUB" within the framework of the Scientific and Methodological Seminar "Art Education: Foreign Experience" began its work on April 7, 2026 with an open lecture by Tali Roth, a world-famous guitarist and teacher.
We would like to remind you that the project is being carried out on the basis of the Institute of Musical and Performing Arts and Socio-Cultural Practices on the initiative of the Department of Theoretical, Musical, Instrumental and Vocal Training. The organizer and moderator of the project is Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Viktoriya Solohub. In addition to teachers, the participants of the project are applicants and postgraduate students.
The first meeting with the famous guitarist was interesting not only for guitarists. Her mastery of phrasing, breathing, methods of text processing, and its interpretation impressed all participants of the seminar. Tali Roth’s methods are of interest to performers and researchers in the teaching of the arts.
Tali Roth was the Chair of Guitar at New York University from 2008 to 2011 and was an Assistant Professor at the Aspen Music Festival. Roth has received the Carnegie Hall Distinguished Teaching Award. Since her Carnegie Hall debut, Roth has performed as a soloist in the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Japan, and Israel, appearing at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall with violinist Midori; the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater with Douglas Dunn and dancers at the Harkness Dance Festival on 92nd Street; Rose Hall, home of the Jazz Festival at Lincoln Center; the Karammur Center with conductor Giovanni Regoli; Henry Crown Hall in Tel Aviv, and many others. She has appeared in Derek Walcott's off-Broadway musical The Odyssey; worked on the soundtrack for Woody Allen's 2010 film You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger; and has performed at the United Nations in Washington for dignitaries such as former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Ehud Barak, as well as General Colin Powell. Roth graduated from the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem, where she received her BA, and from the Juilliard School, where she received her MA. Her DVD with Grammy-winning flutist Carol Winsenk was released by Cinevu.
