Every year on March 14, Ukrainian Volunteer Day is celebrated in Ukraine. The commemorative date was established by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2017 to honor the courage and heroism of the defenders of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.

The date of March 14 is not chosen by chance. It was on this day in 2014 that the first 500 volunteer fighters of the Maidan Self-Defense left Maidan Nezalezhnosti for the training base in Novy Petrivtsi to form the first volunteer battalion. Men and women organized themselves and went to the east of Ukraine - to protect our state and its sovereignty.

Nowadays, the entire Ukrainian people have become volunteers: those who came to recruitment centers and joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; those who joined the ranks of territorial defense; those who help the defenders in every possible way and are ready to join their ranks tomorrow; and many of our students and employees of the university, who took up arms not for the sake of orders, but for the call of their hearts when a mortal threat loomed over Ukraine.

We congratulate you, dear volunteers, on the Day of honoring your courage and self-sacrifice! May God protect you on the way to victory and grant peace and prosperity to you and our country! Thank you very much for your loyalty and faith in the future of Ukraine!
