Excursion of students of the Faculty of Music and Choreography to the Odesa National Scientific Library

On September 25, 2024, the Odesa National Scientific Library celebrated its 195th anniversary. On this day, the graduates of the Faculty of Music and Choreography visited the oldest public library of Ukraine, where the employees of the institution conducted a wonderful tour for them. During the tour, the students learned about the history of the library and its importance for the development of the city, received information about the unique details of the building and the architect, who brought this architectural masterpiece to life, creating a true gem of national heritage. The students also learned about the peculiarities of the work of each department of the library: they had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with rare publications of the XV-XX centuries, periodicals of the XVIII-early XX centuries, engravings and photographs stored in the library collections. Visiting the exhibition "Bookplate: Art Through the Ages" allowed one to immerse oneself in the fascinating world of bookplates - personal bookmarks that accompany books for centuries. Students got acquainted with the history of bookplates and unique examples of book marks of prominent historical figures and collectors, and also learned how this artistic genre developed in Odesa. The winners were especially interested in the book exhibition presented by the employees of the art department, which was created in 1970 as a consultation center for creative unions and art institutions of the city. Today, the arts department of the Odesa Scientific Library has no analogues among the leading libraries of Ukraine.
Happy holiday to all employees of the Odesa National Scientific Library! We wish you energy and creativity in your noble educational work, and we also sincerely thank you for an interesting, meaningful excursion that left no one indifferent and made a deep impression on the students.
